Moebius - Lot 137
Moebius MOEBIUS Original unpublished illustration created in 1992. Signed. India ink and colored inks on paper 16.3 × 24.2 cm (6.42 × 9.53 in.) What's remarkable about this unpublished Moebius drawing, with its dreamlike, sensual atmosphere typical of works such as 40 jours dans le désert B and Le Monde d'Edena, is its mystery. What's the purpose of this heavy-breasted woman wearing a mask and horns? She's making her way through a dense tangle of golden trunks. This illustration comes out of nowhere. As is often the case with Moebius, it was done spontaneously, typical of psychedelic universes or Edena biotopes. This is the genius of Moebius: to use a single image to produce a multiplicity of open interpretations and unheard-of aesthetic shocks. It's visual poetry.
