Vicomte - Lot 172
Vicomte LAURENT VICOMTE A STROLL AT THE END OF THE WORLD La Prison (Vol. 1), Glénat 1982 Original page no. 28, previously published in Gomme no. 5, March 1982. Signed. India ink on paper 34 × 50 cm (13.39 × 19.69 in.) It took a writer like Pierre Makyo to come up with a story worthy of Kafka’s *The Trial*: a photographer who sets out for a stroll through tangled marshes finds himself trapped in the carceral world of a gigantic prison, whose inmates are unable to comprehend what is happening to them. The result is a subtle philosophical and political reflection comparable to that of Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s *Transperceneige*, which was published around the same time (1980). This is why *Balade au bout du monde*, driven by Laurent Vicomte’s oppressive realism, is one of the most memorable series of that period.
