Brüno - Lot 166
Brüno BRÜNO TYLER CROSS Miami (Vol. 3), Dargaud 2017 Original page no. 72. Signed. India ink on paper 29.6 × 42 cm (11.65 × 16.54 in.) Fabien Nury loves ambiguous characters and stories tinged with darkness. That works out well here, as Brüno is an artist who is generous in his use of the darkest of colors. The Argentine School, notably featuring Alberto Breccia and Hugo Pratt, was undoubtedly the first to use black and white in an abstract way, giving each panel an almost painterly quality. This abstraction clashes with the realism of this scene, in which Brüno recounts, in five perfectly paced panels, a murder with almost clinical precision. The quality of the Tyler Cross series lies entirely in this marriage of these two contrasting styles. A pinnacle of contemporary comics.
