Kiko holds a special place in the Marcinelle School. Born in Egypt, he was forced to emigrate when Nasser came to power, passing through Canada before ending up in Belgium, where he met Franquin. Franquin took a liking to him and helped him establish himself in the business, even taking him in as a guest in his studio, where he worked alongside Roba and Jidéhem, among others. Here we have a good example of his round drawing and impeccable inking. From the attitude of some of the protagonists, including Foufi, and some of the caricatures of the secondary characters, you'd never swear that Franquin was content to look over his protégé's shoulder at these drawings...
