Jijé - Lot 174
Jijé JIJÉ TANGUY ET LAVERDURE Dargaud Original promotional illustration, published in Tintin France n° 15 in 1973 and reprinted in the book Quand Gillain raconte Jijé published by Dupuis in 2014. Watercolor, gouache and India ink on paper 43.5 × 55 cm (17.13 × 21.65 in.) A drawing that represents an entire era! It features a duo "à la Charlier", consisting of a dark-haired Tanguy and a slightly zany protagonist, Laverdure. Jijé took over drawing duties from Uderzo, changing the somewhat clinical atmosphere of the series' creator into a spirited, dynamic adventure. Above all, the series was to be adapted for the screen: it was up to the Belgian cartoonist to ensure that the actors on paper increasingly resembled those on the small screen. That's why we have this beautiful portrait for an advertising poster, reminding us of the significant role played by this series in promoting Dassault's Mirage fighter planes.
