Rosinski - Lot 146
Rosinski GRZEGORZ ROSINSKI THORGAL Original illustration for the title page for the first albums in the series from 1980, accompanied by its color tracing. India ink, blue pencil and white gouache on paper 25.2 × 34.2 cm (9.92 × 13.46 in.) It's hard to imagine the aura that Le Journal de Tintin - and I do mean the newspaper - had around the world from the 1960s onwards. It was then that Walt Disney Productions stopped producing comics in the United States. This caused panic among licensees in France, Italy, Germany, Scandinavia and Holland. Their response was to set up local studios to continue churning out Disney Comics. The other action was to offer an alternative: this would be Le Journal de Tintin, published thanks to a genius salesman working for Lombard. Jack de Kezel distributed the magazine from Portugal to Argentina, via Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt, all the way to Norway... So it's hardly surprising that, in the mid-1970s, the young Pole Rosinski should push open the door to the weekly that Thorgal brandishes here.
