Wilson COLIN WILSON BLUEBERRY'S YOUTH The Price of Blood (T.9), Dargaud 1994 Original cover. Signed. Gouache and colored ink on paper 50 × 35.3 cm (19.69 × 13.9 in.) Superb composition by Colin Wilson for Blueberry's Youth. The drawing unfolds in dense half-light, with night occupying the entire left half of the image, while the right half is abruptly illuminated through the window, from which emerges a gunman in action. What's striking about this illustration is the striking contrast between the character's vivid silhouette, precisely cut in a warm light, and the nocturnal vegetation, in almost monochrome tones. A demonstration of Colin Wilson's graphic mastery, combining narrative tension and technical virtuosity with a remarkable economy of means.
