Autumn is here, as evidenced by the gradation of yellow leaves hanging from the trees, while a few red ones are slowly falling. The mood is soothing. Ralph Meyer juxtaposes three planes: the black outline of the graves, the realistic figures in the middle, and the stylized, almost flattened trees in the background. The treatment of the trees has a slightly Japanese feel in the way the foliage is synthesized. Once again, an alternative cover that offers the possibility of exploring other aesthetic terrain. To soften the background, I used watercolor, while the shadows in the foreground are done with acrylic-gouache to bring them intensity. R.M.
