Cornered, Jonas agrees to abandon Dr. Prairie to rescue Eleanor and Rose. At the top of the page, time is suspended, then gunshots reignite the action. The last panel is remarkably spare. No contrast. No detail. The iconic silhouette of Jonas in his top hat and cape is enough. We're plunged into the dark of night.
It's almost a shadow play. An economy of means that further dramatizes the scene. R.M.
