Colored inks and graphite on paper Illustration with Mortimer: signed, 21 × 21 cm (8.27 × 8.27 in.) Illustration with Blake: signed, 21 × 24.5 cm (8.27 × 9.65 in.) A finger of sherry for Blake, a more amber-colored drink for Mortimer. It's worth pointing out that both men like to smoke pipes... Mortimer admits he prefers Virginia tobacco or Old Navy. A good armchair and a good book don't hurt the decor. And a roaring fire in the fireplace. Produced four years apart, to coincide with the release of The Sanctuary of Gondwana and The Oath of the Five Lords, the two illustrations complement each other. They exude a cozy atmosphere. Calm before the tandem sets off to save the world? Or are Philip and Francis simply enjoying a well-deserved rest?
