Throughout Cahier bleu, Louise exposes herself to the voyeuristic gaze of Armand, then Victor. Under the gaze of readers, too. The beautiful Québécoise unashamedly shows and exposes herself. Following on from his comic strip, André continues to sprinkle his notebooks with elegant nudes, as in this original illustration. Perhaps Louise has just made love... Or is she about to? Her right hand rests on a breast swollen with desire, her left leg bent and raised, revealing her pubis, partially obscured by the bed sheet. An ecstatic vision of a smiling, confident and happy Louise. To draw is to take an open, benevolent look. A.J.
