Terry and the Pirates is a Milton Caniff creation that thrilled an incredible number of newspaper readers between 1934 and 1946. It is the most classic and beautiful adventure comic strip of the American Golden Age period. Terry, a young American teenager, and his sidekick Pat Ryan are the heroes, but they are "stolen" from the spotlight by Dragon Lady, the charismatic villainess (not so villainous after all) and leader of a group of Chinese brigands that she directs with an iron fist. One of the most sensual heroines in comics, she combines femininity and power, with a strong character, in an environment of military conflict... And, happily, she is very present on this exceptional plate, a sunday page, dated July 30, 1939, in which you find the exoticism of the Far East and all the main characters of the series. Georges Simonian
