Collection S.K. WILL EISNER THE COLLECTOR Original cover of volume 39 of Spirit Magazine published by Kitchen Sink Comix February 1982. Signed. India ink and inks on paper 55.5 × 38.2 cm (21.85 × 15.04 in.) An exceptional piece in terms of its rarity, large direct-color illustrations of Spirit are rare. Apart from a few rare album covers and a few late commissions, there were only the 41 covers of Spirit Magazine, published by Jim Warren from 1974, some of which were the result of a color collaboration with Ken Kelly. Spirit Magazine no. 39 was published according to the magazine's publication date of February 1982, whereas this cover, entirely in Will Eisner's handwriting, is dated 1983. This is no mistake, as publication in the USA is always backdated by more than 6 months. This is the original, in which our hero, in full possession of his powers, inflicts a beating on the typical villains of the city's underworld. Georges Simonian
