HERMANN ◊ - Lot 8
HERMANN ◊ JEREMIAH Du sable plein les dents (T.2), Fleurus 1979 Original plate no. 26, prepublished in Super As no. 22 July 10, 1979. India ink on paper 36.3 × 47.2 cm (14.29 × 18.58 in.) The Jeremiah series is now in its second volume, published by Novedi, the album division of the Springer Group, publisher of Super-As magazine. The album is published under the Fleurus imprint, Novedi's distributor in France at the time. The series is still influenced by Comanche westerns, right down to the theme: a van attacked by highwaymen, in this case Mexican. The treasure is on the loose, and will arouse a great deal of envy. Once again, Hermann's mastery is expressed, perfectly stylized and always with a touch of irony, in the dialogues, which twirl in tune with the drawing. The structure is classic Hermann: a series of close-ups culminating in a virtuoso splash page revealing the full horror of the attack.
