JEAN-CLAUDE FOURNIER SPIROU AND FANTASIO Tora Torapa (T.23), Black and White 2019 Original illustration for a bookplate published in the deluxe edition. Signed. Watercolor, India ink and pencil on paper 33.2 × 41.8 cm (13.07 × 16.46 in.) Tora Torapa, an album set in the South Seas and originally released in 1973, allows Jean-Claude Fournier to vary the dress code of his main characters. Dressed in a light linen or cotton jacket, his hands protected by a pair of white gloves, wearing an elegant boater, the Count of Champignac takes care of his appearance. As for Spirou, his style is more casual, consisting of a thin shirt thrown over his blue jeans. A clothing look that does not seem to displease the young photographer Ororéa, wearing a simple pareo. Fantasio adopts a stylish borsalino. As for the "bad guys" of the story, they are described as a bunch of frumpy "hippies". In 2019, the editions Black and White resume the album in large format. The space of an ex-libris, Fournier recomposes an original illustration, adding for the pain his little cap to the ex-groom. Faced with this commotion, a couple of parrots observe the scene, noticing in passing that the human race is decidedly noisy.
