Francq - Lot 135
Francq PHILIPPE FRANCQ LARGO WINCH Shadow (Vol. 12), Dupuis 2002 Original page no. 9. Indian ink and blue pencil on paper 36.4 × 51 cm (14.33 × 20.08 in.) This second installment of the Golden Gate / Shadow series in Largo Winch is particularly delightful: Jean Van Hamme takes his revenge on the film industry, which he had tried to break into without much success—despite the success of Jean-Jacques Beineix’s *Diva*, for which he had written the screenplay. The naive Simon believed that Hollywood was rolling out the red carpet for him because of his handsome looks. In reality, it is the “billionaire in blue jeans” who is the target—along with his most trustworthy right-hand man, Dwight Cochrane. Both end up in prison. The Hollywood they discover is closer to an “Epstein scandal” than to *Bernard and Bianca*! In this sequence and the ones that follow, our businessman will show us how a Winch turns the tables to better escape from prison. Philippe Francq’s artwork contributes to the series’ success: beautiful, clear, dynamic, effective, and perfectly believable.
