Tardi - Lot 187
Tardi JACQUES TARDI ADÈLE BLANC-SEC Original illustration created for Tania of the Pepperland bookshop. Signed. India ink and color inks on paper 20.1 × 26.1 cm (7.91 × 10.28 in.) Tania Vandesande was one of Brussels' first comic book specialists, running the Pepperland bookshop in the 1970s at Porte de Namur, not far from Avenue Louise. A place where cats reigned supreme. Above all, it was the rallying point for the new Franco-Belgian comic strip scene, publishing in the new magazines L'Écho des Savanes, Métal Hurlant and (À Suivre). Here we met the young Schuiten and Sokal, as well as more seasoned artists such as Tardi, Moebius, Druillet, F'murr and Claude Auclair. In this beautiful illustration, somewhat parodying Jacobs' La Marque Jaune, Tardi depicts his heroes of the time: Adèle Blanc-Sec and Brindavoine.
