This is a condensed version of all the emblematic elements of the series: Jonas, his top hat, his colt, his vulture... The simplicity of the composition is offset by the dynamic vanishing lines. The colt aims left, the hat accentuates the vertical, while Jed points his beak to the right. This complexity, reinforced by Jonas's piercing gaze, lends the illustration all its power.
