Meyer RALPH MEYER UNDERTAKER Salvaje (T.6), Dargaud 2021 Original cover. Signed. Acrylic and gouache on paper 46.2 × 57.3 cm (18.19 × 22.56 in.) Here's an archetypal scene: a car chase. But Ralph Meyer avoids the impression of déjà vu, by adding snow and diagonals that converge on the central figure's floating cape. Note Jonas's tense expression and the hand stretched out towards the reader, whose giant shadow is cast on the next carriage. Everything is movement and tension. Great art. The action scene on the roof of a train is a Western staple. Pulling it off here, for a cover, was extremely exhilarating. R.M.
