Will WILL ISABELLE L'Envoûtement du Népenthès (T.7), Dupuis 1986 Original cover. Signed. Watercolor, India ink and colored inks on paper 30 × 33.4 cm (11.81 × 13.15 in.) Magnificent and extremely rare direct-color cover by Will for the Isabelle series, created jointly by Will, Yvan Delporte, André Franquin and Raymond Macherot. This was a sort of dream team of Franco-Belgian comics from the Golden Age, with no graphic or storytelling limits, especially in this script by Franquin and Delporte, which operates in the realm of magic. Page layout was generally done by Franquin, who worked with Delporte on the texts. Macherot has already left the team with this seventh album, due to health problems. While the cover has an air of Spirou Le Repère de la Murène, the submersible is less designer than Franquin's, more baroque, in keeping with the dreamlike spirit of the script, which takes its heroes to the Blue Country to consult the Delft oracle - a pun on the Greek oracle of Delphi and the town of Delft, famous for its blue earthenware inspired by Chinese art. The album's main characters are present, moving dynamically across the page. The colors are Will's, not Leonardo's, whose studio was responsible for coloring the inside pages, much to Will's despair, who would have preferred to do it himself. Hence the quality of his chromatic range, with its luminous complements, its characters depicted in warm colors that emerge from the heart of icy abysses. The magic works...
