LEPAGE EMMANUEL LEPAGE La Terre sans mal, Dupuis 1999 Original plate no. 27. Signed. Watercolor on paper 32.5 × 45.5 cm (12.8 × 17.91 in.) This short, two-page sequence set in an abandoned town convinced me to put into pictures the scenario proposed to me by Anne Sibran. When I read it, I "saw" the scene, and was excited to draw it. It's an atmosphere that I later rediscovered "in real life" on my trips to French Guiana and Angkor. The ruins under the vegetation fascinate me and are a joy to sketch. La Terre sans mal was a "laboratory" for what would become my technique to this day, watercolor. Emmanuel Lepage
