Indian ink and white gouache on paper 34.5 × 50.5 cm (13.58 × 19.88 in.) A beautiful night scene in which Jijé demonstrates his science of black and white. In those days, scenarios were dense, and Maurice Rosy managed to interweave several plots into one story. The story follows the tribulations of the Fenton family on their way to California, which involves crossing several Indian territories. Father Fenton is particularly suspicious of Jerry Spring's partner, Pancho, because he is a mixed-blood Indian and Mexican. In this panel, we even see Pancho betray his friend by giving him an uppercut! This reversal is perfectly illustrated in this scene.
