PLESSIX - Lot 40
PLESSIX MICHEL PLESSIX THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS L'Échappée Belle (T.3), Delcourt 1999 Original illustration for the back cover. Signed. Watercolor, Indian ink and pastel highlights on paper 20 × 21.3 cm (7.87 × 8.39 in.) Modest and helpful, not at all egocentric... No, we're joking, Toad really only thinks of himself, accumulates disasters and can, if necessary, be very cowardly and opportunistic. All this with a nerve and pride that command respect. As the head of a considerable fortune, he has no qualms about showing himself in the worst possible light... It's almost surprising that his friends (because he has friends!) still put up with him! The fact remains that Monsieur le Baron, a title of which he's not a little proud, is actually very endearing! Michel Plessix makes no mistake in making him one of the pivots of his intrigues. It's only natural, then, that his haughty portrait should be featured as a fleur-de-lampe on the back of several albums in the series.
