Pierre Probst was one of the main illustrators of the Hachette catalog, working for La Bibliothèque rose et verte. But it was above all his character Caroline that made him famous. Created in 1953, her adventures number no less than 44 albums, with fresh, colorful gouaches. Aimed above all at young female readers, it's a sort of "French answer" to Marcel Marlier's Martine collection for Casterman.
