Firstly, because scriptwriter François Froideval's Les Chroniques de la Lune noire is historically France's first major medieval-fantasy comic strip. These heroic-fantasy adventures are based on a universe that was largely developed in the role-playing games inherited from Tolkien's universe, published in the 1980s.
