La Croisière des oubliés is the first step in a fruitful collaboration between Christin and Bilal in the Légendes d'aujourd'hui collection. It's a kind of fantastical tale with political overtones, which was to become a hallmark of the pair's subsequent careers. Here, military personnel fall victim to what may be their own experiments, and flee their base camp. Bilal, who hasn't yet switched to direct color - he's still only 24 - is already well up to speed: he's the equal of a Giraud, and everyone is well aware of it. This fantastic tale allows him to add a touch of the grotesque, making this album an unforgettable work.
