The publication of Cahier bleu in (À Suivre), paradoxically, does justice to André Juillard, who until now had been regarded as an (excellent) illustrator of other people's scripts. Suddenly, in this story, a kind of intimate thriller, we discover a screenwriter of infinite finesse, in an open-ended work that doesn't hesitate to leave questions unanswered, the better to concentrate on his writing. The latter is expressed not only in words, but also in a narrative interwoven with dazzlingly classic graphics, both in line and chromatic range. A realist Hergé, in a way... Juillard was awarded the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême in 1996.
