Jean Van Hamme and Ted Benoit's 1996 revival of the Blake & Mortimer series, L'Affaire Francis Blake, was a huge success. Ted Benoit was perfectly faithful to Edgar P. Jacobs, while Jean Van Hamme offered a pure spy story, perfectly credible in these Cold War times. Unfortunately, Ted Benoit's perfectionism didn't sit well with the publisher, who would like to be paid every year. He therefore decided to hire a second team. It would be Yves Sente and André Juillard. Juillard's first plates for the Centaur Club are perfectly in line with Jacobsian orthodoxy: accurate, detailed, presenting the facts in the right way.
