HERMANN ◊ BERNARD PRINCE Thunder on Coronado (T.2), Le Lombard 1969 Original plate no. 40, prepublished in Le Journal de Tintin Belge no. 49, December 7, 1967. India ink on paper 35.8 × 40.5 cm (14.09 × 15.94 in.) Thunder on the Coronado is Bernard Prince's second long adventure. It takes place in an imaginary Central American dictatorship controlled by an unscrupulous businessman, Kurt Bronzen, whom we had already glimpsed in Asia in General Satan. The country is in the midst of a Zapatista-style revolution, and Bernard Prince is obviously on the side of the oppressed. In this scene, where the country's rulers are losing the game, the contrast between the grotesqueness of the situation and the rigor of the decor is striking, reminding us that Hermann trained in architectural and interior design in Brussels.
