JEREMIAH
Alex (T.15), Dupuis 1990
Original plate no. 36. Presence of superficial soiling
on the back of the plate. Signed. India ink on paper
36.4 × 47.5 cm (14.33 × 18.7 in.)
A very fine plate that perfectly captures the character of Alex. Jeremy and Kurdy have decided to accompany a mother and her teenage son to the home of their father, who lives with a pleasant young woman, Alex, who raises monkeys. The return journey is obviously a little unsettling for father and daughter, who haven't seen each other for a long time, the mother having become obese in the meantime. In addition to the magnificent black-and-white drawing, interspersed with somewhat contemplative silences, in which we see Jeremiah on guard duty, we can't help but be seduced by the way the scene is told, at once very raw in the way it brings out the desire between the protagonists, and very funny, in a dialogue full of tenderness and humor. Great Hermann.
