HERMANN ◊ BERNARD PRINCE La Fournaise des damnés (T.7), Le Lombard 1974 Original plate no. 42, prepublished in Le Journal de Tintin Belge no. 15, April 15, 1971. Presence of soiling and adhesive tape residue on the back of the plate. India ink on paper 36.3 × 47.5 cm (14.29 × 18.7 in.) We're in the heart of the furnace. Our heroes are aboard the Cormoran, rescuing victims trapped on a peninsula by a gigantic forest fire, whose flames threaten hundreds of people. Bernard Prince sets out to organize their rescue, with Barney Jordan at the helm. Problem: to reach the cove, they have to cross a network of sharp reefs - "Neptune's teeth" - battered by a raging sea. At the end of the adventure, our heroes will inherit a mascot named... Hairball! Hermann has no equal when it comes to leading his characters into the heart of raging natural elements. Everything beyond the human is brought together here: fire, the ocean... all expressed in full power under Hermann's brushstrokes.
