HUBINON - Lot 62
HUBINON VICTOR HUBINON BUCK DANNY La Reine Fantôme - "Ghost Queen" (T.40), Dupuis 1979 Original plate no. 1 prepublished in Spirou no. 2088 April 20, 1978. India ink on paper 39.2 × 50.3 cm (15.43 × 19.8 in.) Inaugural panel of Ghost Queen, first page summary of an album that concludes a triptych begun in La Mort verte, devoted to the U.S. military's fight against the drug trade that feeds the mafia. In this case, poppy fields will be bombed in squadrons in an attempt to dry up the source. The complicity between Hubinon and Charlier is as old as the Buck Danny series itself, and abundant: a whole history of military aviation unfolds before our eyes. Often inspired by current events, Buck Danny's adventures progress along with technological advances in combat aviation. This is the last album of the square-jawed pilot drawn by Victor Hubinon. The series was soon taken over by Francis Bergèse, who, like Charlier, holds a pilot's license. It's in good hands!
