REISER Original illustration, poster for Père Noël est une ordure, a play created in 1979 by the Splendid troupe. The inscription "À la Gaîté Montparnasse" is in felt-tip pen. Signed. India ink and colored inks on paper 16.2 × 21.4 cm (6.38 × 8.43 in.) Franquin was astounded by Reiser's skill, his sketchy, throwaway drawing, with an expressiveness that made him the Jackson Pollock of humor drawings. Reiser was responsible for many of the most famous front pages of Hara Kiri and Charlie Hebdo, where he was a fellow traveler from the very first issues, before moving on to Pilote. His poster for Jean-Marie Poiré's Le Père Noël est une ordure, a play staged at the Théâtre de la Gaîté-Montparnasse by the Splendid team ("Les Bronzés"), and later turned into a hit film, is still fondly remembered.
