FLOC'H
JEAN-CLAUDE FLOC'H BLAKE AND MORTIMER, Dargaud Struggling Mortimer, original illustration created in 2009. Signed. India ink on paper 65 × 50 cm (25.59 × 19.69 in.) When Floc'h and François Rivière published Le Rendez-vous de Sevenoaks in Pilote Mensuel in 1977, they had an ambiguous status: they paid tribute to the great Belgian classic while deconstructing it. Floc'h had not yet been invited to revive the adventures of Blake and Mortimer, because he had distanced himself from the world of comics, but also because other artists such as Bob De Moor, Ted Benoit and André Juillard had taken up the challenge with a reputation as regular producers. In 2020, Floc'h was persuaded by Jean-Luc Fromental, already scriptwriter for the British duo, to produce an album with Jacobs' characters. It will be published at the end of 2023. This illustration shows that he's up to the challenge.
