Turf turns comics into poetry, both narratively and graphically, and in terms of language. In Turf, reason, which controls everything and locks everything into Cartesian logic, gives way to fantasy and unbridled delirium. Humor becomes the leavening of a loose narrative, populated by fantastic beings, as funny as they are disturbing, and in any case, zany. The graphic design is in unison: charged, bursting, jubilant, symphonic, as disheveled as an Escher construction, in short, baroque. A creation that has no equivalent in Franco-Belgian comics.
