JIJÉ JERRY SPRING La Route de Coronado (T.11),... - Lot 71 - Daniel Maghen Enchères et Expertises
JIJÉ JERRY SPRING La Route de Coronado (T.11), Dupuis 1962 Original plate no. 28, prepublished in Le Journal de Spirou no. 1205, May 18, 1961. Panel no. 3 was produced on a separate support affixed to the original. India ink on paper 31.8 × 43.6 cm (12.52 × 17.17 in.) This well-paced story, scripted by Jijé's son Philip, was inked by Gir, a helping hand that Jijé would return to Jean Giraud a few years later when he, in turn, was stuck with deadlines. In this scene, a ranch is set on fire by Silver, a half-breed of white man and Yaqui Indian with dubious associations. His motive has a name: the treasure of the conquistadors! The Jerry Spring and Pancho duo is well established. This story is even more characteristic of the Mexican sidekick, who turns out to be a tracker at least equal to an Indian.
