Au jour le jour is an album of joy, springtime, flowers and colors that capture the light. Célestine is alone, the decor very uncluttered; she has gone off in secret to do this magical gathering and return with armfuls of flowers, the prelude to a great celebration. She's totally focused on her picking, which she wants to be quick and efficient. As always with Gabrielle Vincent, we find the efficiency of the pared-down style; a few strokes, and an atmosphere is set; Célestine alone in the middle of the field and the flowers, so not much to say, and yet the intensity of the story is there, and we want to know what happens next, to follow her as she races home through the woods, her arms laden with flowers.
