LOUSTAL - Lot 112
LOUSTAL Barney et la note bleue, Casterman 1987 Original plate n°20, prepublished in (À Suivre) n°95 of December 1985. Signed. Watercolor and India ink on paper 28,5 x 38,2 cm (11,22 x 15,04 in.) Barney and the blue note is one of the albums that reveals Loustal, born in Métal Hurlant, where he aligned his contemplative images: a mix between the lights of the Maghreb and the Californian vibrations of David Hockney, on voices off to the eminently poetic resonances, signed Philippe Paringaux, the scriptwriter of Barney and editor of Rock & Folk. With this album, the first important of his career, Loustal finds his tempo: the blue note, it is the jazz, this musical phrase that goes on slowly, feline and elegant, light and soothing as a setting sun. This singular musicality never left him since.
