TED BENOIT
TED BENOIT RAY BANANA City of Light (T.2), Casterman 1986 Original plate n°22, prepublished in (À Suivre) n°84 of january 1985. Signed. India ink on paper 32.5 × 44 cm (12.8 × 17.32 in.) One of the factors of discrepancy with the Hergéan model is that Ted Benoit's work moves from a 1930s aesthetic, influenced by the Bauhaus, to a reference to the popular France of the 1950s. Not without a certain modernity since the Parisian "titi" that Ted Benoit represents is no longer exactly that of Poulbot... Benoit is part of a current of the Clear Line (inspired by the line of Hergé, Jacobs or Tillieux) which emerges from the Atom Style. A style, says Joost Swarte, "playful with the design".
