RAYMOND MACHEROT CHLOROPHYLLE Chlorophylle et les conspirateurs (T.2), Le Lombard 1956 Original plate n°12 prepublished in Le Journal de Tintin Belge n°6 of February 9, 1955. India ink on paper 30.4 × 41 cm (11.97 × 16.14 in.) The Chlorophylle series is one of the most amazing ones that appeared in Tintin in the mid-1950s. You have to imagine it stuck between pages of Hergé, Jacobs, Weinberg or Funcken... This animal series stands out by the fact that, unlike most of the humorous productions of the time, it is not part of the Disney legacy that influenced most of the great post-war humorists, from Franquin to Uderzo and from Morris to Peyo. It is that it is directly inspired by the hard boiled American film noir by the punchy side of the dialogues, as in Blake and Mortimer, and by the ambiguity of its characters with complex behaviors. A must-see.
