JOUBERT
PIERRE JOUBERT Original illustration for the month of June of the calendar of the "Scouts Baden-Powell de Belgique" of 1953. This illustration was also published in the portfolio accompanying the first edition of the album Chefs-d'oeuvre -Tome 2 published by Alain Littaye in 1982. Signed. Gouache on paper 49.8 × 36.2 cm (19.61 × 14.25 in.) During the 1950s, although he was an employee of the Scouts de France, Joubert occasionally worked for other scouting organizations. For example, he produced four calendars for the Baden Powell Scouts of Belgium between 1950 and 1955. The twelve illustrations of 1953 tell the story of life at camp. The one for June, the original of which is presented here, is subtitled: "Dinner: Creating Comfort with Little, Reveals the Art of the Scout. In this magnificent illustration, Joubert combines with his usual dexterity the realism of the line with the humor of the situation. Jean-François Vivier
