CAZA
PHILIPPE CAZA Macha, original illustration published in the book Chacun son Chat by George Lacroix at Fantôme in 1987 Signed. India ink and coloured ink on paper 25,4 x 50 cm (10 x 19, 69 in.) Philippe Caza (born in 1941) is one of the great figures of fantasy and SF illustration in France. A fellow traveller with Moebius and Druillet in this field, he published his first book with Éric Losfeld, the mythical publisher of Barbarella, Lone Sloane and Pravda la survireuse. He soon joined the team of Pilote and then Métal Hurlant (Arkhê, Le Monde d'Arkadi,) while producing many illustrations for the Opta publishing house or the SF collection of J'ai Lu. He has also made several short films and two animated films: Gandahar (1998) and Les Enfants de la pluie (2003). This illustration, with its great clarity and bold chromatic choices, is emblematic of Caza's work.
