Solitude. That is the feeling this illustration reflects. The loneliness of the musician, Jazz, perhaps before playing, perhaps between pieces, or under the applause of the audience. The beam of light from the ceiling falls on Jazz, humble, trumpet in hand. It is a moment when the musician is isolated, cut off from the world, as if locked in his own thoughts. Here, light and stains prevail; an almost absolute blackness that amplifies a feeling close to sadness.
"Less is more. Only someone with Roger's talent can thrill us with the simple image of a guy almost entirely from behind, holding a trumpet in his hand. Amazing to tell so much with so little. Roger brings the art and we fill in, imagining what didn't need to be drawn. "Raule
