Will - Lot 41
Will WILL TIF AND TONDU Traitement de Choc (T.32), Dupuis 1984 Original plate no. 19, prepublished in Le Journal de Spirou n° 2401 of April 19, 1984. Signed. India ink on paper 35.8 × 47 cm (14.09 × 18.5 in.) Traitement de Choc sees the return of the series' nemesis: a return duly negotiated by Desberg, who went to Paris to try and convince Maurice Rosy, who was at odds with Dupuis at the time. This is a sort of extension of L'Ombre sans corps, a previous Tif et Tondu album by Maurice Tillieux. With the exception of a few sketches by Tillieux and a dozen photos, Will's imagination and talent are used to recreate a London that's truer than life. Choc tries to do in London what he couldn't do in Paris in Choc au Louvre: steal the finest museum pieces. This is followed by a ransom demand which, appropriately enough, takes place on Tower Bridge! The hunt is on! Admire the magnificent night-time atmosphere "à la Tillieux", with its varied framing that highlights the famous hydraulic bascule bridge, a jewel in the London landscape.
