JIJÉ - Lot 63
JIJÉ TANGUY ET LAVERDURE Mission dernière chance (T.17), Dargaud 1972 Original plate no. 16, prepublished in Le Journal de Tintin no. 18 May 8, 1973. India ink and white gouache on paper 44 × 60 cm (17.32 × 23.62 in.) Typical of the Tanguy et Laverdure universe created by Jean-Michel Charlier and Albert Uderzo in 1959, then taken over by Jijé from the 9th episode onwards. This beautiful plate demonstrates the Belgian artist's ability to switch easily between realistic and humorous drawing, a perfect match for Charlier's scenarios, which have always had a weakness for "pie-in-the-sky" humor. The duet between Ernest and Miss Linström, an absolutely seductive woman, looks promising. In this episode, we meet up with Azraf, the famous "Lieutenant Double Bang", who has become an emir in his own country, confronted with the unfriendly maneuvers of foreign oil companies.
