MANARA - Lot 193
MANARA MILO MANARA Gulliveriana, Les Humanoïdes Associés 1996 Original plate no. 64. India ink and graphite on paper 35.9 × 47.8 cm (14.13 × 18.82 in.) Milo Manara's reinterpretation of the Gulliver myth: a giantess lost in the land of Lilliput, where everything is tiny - people, animals, houses and even trees! If the surprise is immediate, it soon turns to anguish: nothing is her size. Except nature, its sky, its infinite horizon, its immaculate beaches and its ships in the distance, all tiny. At last, Gulliveriana, seductive and sexy, sublime and triumphant, has found a world of her own. It all comes down to a few strokes in a composition carved, as in Botticelli, in the golden ratio. It's - literally - the Venus de Milo!
