MILLER - Lot 138
MILLER FRANK MILLER SIN CITY Family Values (T.5), Vertige Graphic 1997 Original illustration. India ink on paper 22 × 32 cm (8.66 × 12.6 in.) Frank Miller is one of the most influential artists of his time in the comic book world. His work on Daredevil, and later on Batman, not only changed the mythical substance of these characters but also revolutionized the comic book industry by giving it a less naive, darker, more adult character, which would eventually facilitate its triumph in the cinema. Having discovered the masterpiece Lone Wolf & Cub by Kazuo Koike, drawn by Goseki Kojima (for whom he illustrated the covers of their publication in the USA by Dark Horse), Miller radicalized his style, making his inking sharper, more incisive, and his masses of black more assertive, if not invasive, which initially gave Ronin, but then Sin City, whose film adaptation constitutes another revolution, but this time in the history of Hollywood.
