Upcoming comic art and illustration auction
Daniel Maghen Enchères et Expertises is proud to announce the upcoming auction dedicated to comics & illustration in November 2020.
The auction will be held in two parts. The first one will be dedicated to the talented comic artist Ralph Meyer, through a special catalog gathering thirty artworks from his best-seller Undertaker scripted by Xavier Dorison and colored by Caroline Delabie, as well as some artworks from his two series Asgard and Berceuse assassine published by Dargaud. With Undertaker, one of the best series of the genre, Ralph Meyer, at the height his talent follows in the footsteps of great artists, such as Giraud and Hermann. Meyer demonstrates an exceptional mastery. His flawless artwork, where he uses hatching, together with powerful inking and bold compositions, reflects wonderfully the incendiary atmosphere of the American Wild West. A selection of the most beautiful black and white pages of this series will be displayed, as well as covers and illustrations which have been especially created for this event, including rare acrylic artworks.

In this rare Tintin illustration taken from the world of the mythical album Explorers of the Moon, Hergé deploys all his talents. This artwork features the most striking scene of Aventures de Tintin: Drunk Captain Haddock's spacewalking and drifting away from the rocket, whose atomic engine he had luckily turned off. This image, both funny and vertiginous, of a space survivor's rescue, which was published in Tintin weekly magazine on December 31, 1952, comes through wonderfully through Hergé's soft and efficient lines, his skillful inking and his flawless composition. A magical moment, which does not prevent our heroes from fighting, as they always do!
