Upcoming Auction « Comic art & Illustration » Saturday, November 29 in Paris

With its four catalogs – a general one and three catalogs dedicated to André Juillard, Will and Ralph Meyer – this sale will put up for auction more than 200 major artworks signed by the Great Names of historic and contemporary Franco-Belgian comic art, and is expected to be the unmissable event of the season.

The centerpiece of this sale is by Jean Giraud. It is the cover of volume 4 of Blueberry, the Lost Rider, dated 1968, which is estimated at €110,000-130,000. A fine collection is dedicated to Hergé – the father of the "Ligne Claire" (clear line) – with an illustration from King Ottokar's Sceptre, estimated at €60,000-70,000, and an illustration published in Tintin magazine (1946) to announce the release of The Secret of the Unicorn, estimated at €25,000-30,000.

Among the top lots, we also find works by Vance with a rare cover of XIII, Lâchez les chiens ! (XIII, Release the dogs!) (vol. 5-2002) estimated at €35,00-40,000, by Moebius from The Incal and Arzach, by Gibrat with the penultimate artwork of Le Sursis (The Reprieve) estimated at €25,000-30,000, as well as works by Batem, Ted Benoit, Bilal, Bretécher, Chaland, Conrad, Cosey, Druillet, Eisner, Fournier, Francq, Franquin, Fred, Giraud, Greg, Hermann, Janry, Jijé, Larcenet, Loisel, Manara, Mézières, Pellerin, Plessix, Pratt, Reiser, Roba, Rosinski, Schuiten, Ségur, Serpieri, Tardi, Tibet, Tillieux, Uderzo, Vallée, Vance, Bill Watterson, Yoann, Yslaire and Zep.

This sale, which is exceptional in many respects, will feature the masterpieces of a prestigious private collection – the "S.K. Collection", as well as three dedicated catalogs: the first one devoted to Will, an iconic figure of the Franco-Belgian comic strip, the second paying tribute to André Juillard, and the last dedicated to contemporary artist Ralph Meyer.
